VIDEO PROFESSOR TEAMS WITH THE PEACE CORPS FOR COMPUTER LITERACY
Lakewood, Colo./Washington, D.C. - Video Professor, the world leader in computer self-tutorial lessons, has announced the donation of 2,000 copies of its popular GET STARTED WITH YOUR PC tutorial lesson for use by Peace Corps volunteers around the globe.
Peace Corps volunteers will be able to use the software to help teachers, students and individuals in their communities to learn to use the computer. Currently, many volunteers work in one of the Peace Corps' fastest growing sectors, information technology, by training teachers to educate their students about the information age. Other volunteers also work to empower women through small business development and computers by providing them with the access to market their crafts via the Internet.
"We're excited and honored to support the Peace Corps in its important work around the world," says John Scherer, CEO and founder of Video Professor. "Computer Literacy for all people is a goal of ours, and by donating this software to the dedicated members of the Peace Corps we're able to spread these efforts world-wide."
The CD-Rom lessons provide users with three hours of tutorial learning about The Desktop Interface, Elements of a Window, Contents of a Window, The Taskbar and Start Buttons, using File Folders and Saving Documents, along with the Control Panel.
The Video Professor lessons play like a video on the computer. Users can work along side the lessons, "learning as they do." Users can pause, rewind, or forward the lessons as needed. They learn at their own schedule and pace, moving on to the next level when they have mastered the previous one. And if they need to refresh their learning, it is as simple as popping the lesson into the computer.
"We hope these lessons will help people not only be able to learn more about the world around them, but to share their own cultures with that same world," Scherer says. "When people communicate, good things always happen."
