EMPLOYEE CLUB MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY

(Lakewood CO) When a group of employees at Lakewood, CO-based VIDEO PROFESSOR Inc got together to think of some ideas to help out in the community, they had no idea how much they could do if they set their minds to it.

A year later, VIDEO PROFESSOR'S Seasons Club is proving people can make a difference in helping others just by working together.

Club members work in a variety of departments at VIDEO PROFESSOR, a leader in computer tutorials and instruction along with taking a lead role in the fight against identity theft. The company was founded by CEO John Scherer, known to millions through his commercials and appearances on national and local television news programs.

During the past Holiday Season the club took on three projects:

* The Salvation Army Giving Tree. VIDEO PROFESSOR employees donated presents to 400 children and seniors. According the to the Salvation Army, that's 1/3 of all Giving Tree Donations from businesses in the City of Lakewood.

* Employees also donated 1,040 items of food to the Jeffco Action Center.

* And 43 soldiers serving in Iraq were "adopted" by VIDEO PROFESSOR Employees as part of the Soldier Angel Project. Through the program, soldiers receive monthly packages of personal items, CD's and other little touches of home. Most importantly each soldier receives weekly e-mails or letters simply to let him or her know their service to our nation is appreciated.

Seasons Club members organize the projects during their lunch-breaks, or before or after their shifts.

"There is so much to do in the community, and we wish we could help out everyone who needs it," says Brian Olson, Director of Communications for VIDEO PROFESSOR. "But knowing that by working together, and getting our fellow employees to join in, it's nice to know that we at least can make a small difference."

And Seasons Club members encourage other companies through out the Denver area to start similar efforts.

"We know of several other such employee clubs but we encourage every company to encourage and support their employees in similar efforts," says Olson. "Give a group of employees use of a conference room for an hour, supply them with pizza and you'll be surprised at what they can do," says Olson.

VIDEO PROFESSOR'S Seasons Club has an even more ambitious list of projects set for 2005. And the club itself is growing along with its list of planned good deeds "It's pretty much standing-room only at meetings these days," says Olson. "In fact we've split into two different groups to handle everything on our plate this year!"

Olson says there's an added benefit to the company as well as team members come from across the company's many departments. He says it helps build an even stronger sense of teamwork and overall morale.

And how does CEO John Scherer feel about all this?

"I continue to be amazed, but never surprised, by what our team of employees is capable of doing each and every day," says Scherer. "It's paying off in the growth of our own business and just as important, our contribution as corporate citizens where we work and live."
