A Brief History
Prior to founding Video Professor, John W. Scherer ran a successful business selling PCs. Video Professor was born in response to the many customer requests for instruction on using newly purchased computers. Because no one was producing the necessary training for his customers, Mr. Scherer rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
In 1987, the very first Video Professor lesson, Introduction to DOS, was produced on VHS tape. Mr. Scherer realized that his unique "What-You-See-Is-What-You-Do" teaching method was both popular and effective. In 1996, lessons were introduced to the market on CD-ROM and by 1998 CD-ROM lessons began to outsell those on VHS. By 2003, Video Professor began offering its computer lessons online and in 2005 added a line of security software applications and tutorials to its vast library of product titles.
